The Stronghold המזח
The Stronghold is a unique war drama project commemorating the 50-year anniversary of the 1973 Yom Kippur War. The project is released as a feature and a 5 episode limited series.
Based on true events, the story depicts the harrowing account of 42 Israeli soldiers who, upon surviving an Egyptian surprise offensive, become stranded in a besieged outpost behind enemy lines.
Lieutenant Shlomo Erdinast, a 21-year-old commander, leads the defense of the outpost against constant attacks, while army doctor Nahum Werbin treats the many casualties in the underground infirmary bunker.
After more than a week of warding off Egyptian attacks, with more than half of the troops either dead or wounded, the surviving soldiers realize that no one will come to their rescue. While the commander prepares his troops for a final, hopeless battle, the doctor comes up with an alternative plan, one that may get them out of there alive but comes with a heavy price, betraying every value on which they have been raised.
Gut wrenching, intense, and deeply rooted in character, The Stronghold is a cinematic exploration of heroes who under extreme stress test their deepest values.
